The Experience

I’ve had the best naps of recent from, surprisingly, those Calm Before the Storm Youtube videos. I’m not a person who needs music or ambient sounds to fall asleep. Just give me a hot shower, soft bedsheets, and a pitch dark, silent room and I’m out for the count!

But one evening after work, the sounds of an approaching storm brought out this primordial desire for shelter and comfort. It made me want to burrow; burrow under the soft blankets on my couch and play video games, or be held by my partner, make love, and eat delicious food all day. I’ve been craving this feeling, even praying for these days to show up. It could be this innate circadian rhythm-like desire making it’s self known every Spring.

The Spark

Nonetheless, it sparked an idea; one of my favorite experiences in life. An idea centered around storms, hurricanes, and the unpredictable weather events that evoke varying emotions within people. Some people hear thunder and sense fear. Some see rain and become melancholic. Others may experience flooding and become spiritually enlightened. This is what I’d like to tackle in my next anthology series; Hurricane Season. Currently, I have five short stories I’d like to write. I’m not sure if I’ll post them on here or if I’ll send it off as a manuscript for a literary agent. Maybe both!
